Vanisa Punwani  BAET, CAT (C)

Certified Athletic Therapist
Picture
Vanisa is a Certified Athletic Therapist, and completed the Athletic & Exercise Therapy degree program at Camosun College in the spring of 2016. She took an instant liking to the field of athletic therapy because it combined her love for anatomy, education, athletics, and allowed her to help people reconnect to their passions, work and activities in a meaningful and rewarding way.

As an athletic therapist, Vanisa specializes in the prevention of injury, assessment of acute and chronic conditions, treatment, and rehabilitation. Treatments may include manual therapy (soft tissue release, fascial techniques, joint mobilizations, muscle energy techniques) and exercise prescription. Vanisa enjoys designing comprehensive rehabilitation programs that offer the client a holistic approach to tissue healing. This often includes muscle re-education, strength and conditioning, injury prevention advice and postural education.

Vanisa has worked with a variety of active individuals since 2009. She started as a rehabilitation aid to people with chronic medical conditions, and those recovering from heart attacks and strokes. She is also very experienced in working with youth and adolescents in sport settings.
Most recently, she has worked with BC Rugby, UVIC Women’s Soccer, UVIC Men’s Rowing, and Castaway Wanderers Rugby Club. Vanisa has worked with elite athletes from many disciplines including: Field Hockey Canada, Athletics Canada, Rugby Canada and Rowing Canada.

She has a particular interest in postural dysfunctions, muscle imbalance syndromes, and injuries/conditions of the hip, pelvis, knee, ribs and wrist.

Vanisa is an avid hiker, kayaker, snowboarder, weightlifter and recreational basketball player. She is also an aspirational drummer and a lover of dogs, live music, family gatherings and road trips.
