What is an Athletic Therapist?An Athletic Therapist is a health care professional who provides treatment and care to physically active individuals. The scope of practice of a Certified Athletic Therapist includes the assessment, prevention, immediate care, and reconditioning of musculoskeletal injuries. Prevention includes musculoskeletal and postural evaluation, equipment selection, fitting and repair, warm-up, conditioning programs, prophylactic or supportive taping, and adapting to the activity environment and facilities.

An Athletic Therapist will assess your injuries and conditions to determine the nature of your injury and your rehabilitation program will include utilization of contemporary rehabilitative techniques, soft tissue mobilization, and physical reconditioning to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing in preparing the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle.

Yes. An Athletic Therapist can benefit athletes of at any level of competition from our Olympic athletes to recreational athletes to industrial athletes. Industrial Athletes include industrial workers, office works, military and any worker who experiences discomfort at their place of work. Anyone who leads an active lifestyle will benefit from Athletic Therapy.

What is the difference between Athletic Therapy and Physiotherapy? |
Athletic Therapists specialize in assessing and treating musculoskeletal injuries within the active populations. Physiotherapists diagnoses and provide treatment for movement dysfunctions that can relate from neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, respiratory or cardiovascular systems. While they are similar, Athletic Therapist specialize in musculoskeletal injuries and have training in on-field acute injury management.
