Steve Ferris has been practicing as a registered massage therapist in Victoria since graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver in 1987. Steve was practicing at the Pacific Pain Treatment Clinic in Victoria for 29 years before joining Mandala Centre for Health and Wellness in Colwood and Remedy Wellness Centre in Victoria.
For 8 years he was an instructor, supervisor and teaching assistant in a variety of orthopaedic courses at West Coast College of Massage Therapy. He has also worked for 4 years as an RMT at the Victoria Exercise Rehabilitation Centre, specifically treating patients challenged by injuries from motor vehicle accidents. Steve's clinically oriented model of patient care includes assessment, treatment and a home care program that always includes specific ‘Kinetic’ exercises. Kinetics programs enhance the effectiveness of treatment, prevent further aggravation and help restore pain-free activities. Steve knows the importance of being proactive in health management and emphasizes prevention. Through years of clinical experience, continued education and training Steve has developed, practices and teaches a therapeutic exercise program called:“The P.O.W.E.R. of Kinetics” (P –prevention O –optimum W –wellness E –education R –restoration). Steve utilizes the POWER components and strategies in his patient management taking into account the whole individual. For over 40 years Steve has been weight training for wellness and often utilizes resistance training components based on therapeutic exercise principles in homecare programs.
